The Jonesboro Housing Authority accepts employment applications or resume’s daily. All employment applications received are placed in a pending application file according to qualification and updated quarterly. To expedite the hiring process, all applications in the pending file will be notified when a position is available. All job openings will be filled by either qualified JURHA staff or applicants from the pending application file. If the position(s) cannot be filled with a qualified JURHA staff person or a qualified applicant from the pending application file, the position(s) will be advertised on the JURHA website, or in the Jonesboro Sun.

Job Openings

The Jonesboro Housing Authority is looking for a part-time Inspection Assistant. Please email application or resume to  Sharon Spikes, Executive Director.

*Housing Inspector Assistance

  1. Back-up inspector by conducting inspections in the absence of the HCV Inspector or during heavy scheduling periods,
  2. Maintain the Rent Reasonableness Comparability records and assist the HCV Manager in completing the Lease Agreement.
  3. Schedule inspection appointments, answer inspection questions from landlords and tenants
  4. Establish that unit meets HQS and Rent Reasonableness Comparability.
  5. Carry out all administrative duties for the inspection department.
  6. Cross training of duties for the other Section 8 HCV positions and perform any other duties as may be
    assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Must have extensive knowledge of local, state, HUD and national life-safety and building codes.
  2. Must be able to communicate well, both orally and in writing, with residents, landlords and the Housing Authority staff.
  3. Must be willing and able to work flexible hours.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, residents, other departments, Housing Authority officials and the general public.
  5. Ability to inspect and determine if unit meets Housing Quality Standards (HQS)

Special Requirements:

  1. Must have a valid vehicle operator’s license
  2. Must be bondable and insurable by the agency’s fleet insurance carrier.
