What is the Volence Against Women Act?

On January 5, 2006, President Bush signed the Violence Against Women Act into law. The Jonesboro Urban Renewal & Housing Authority (JURHA) has adopted a policy (the Jonesboro Urban Renewal & Housing Authority VAWA Policy) to implement applicable provisions of the Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act of 2005 (Pub. L. 109-162) (VAWA). JURHA’s goals, objectives, and policies, which enable JURHA to serve the needs of child and adult victims of domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking as defined in VAWA, are stated in the Section 8 Administrative Plan & Public Housing Admissions and Continued Occupancy Policy (ACOP).
