Housing Choice Voucher Program Waiting List
The Housing Choice Voucher Program Waiting List is for people who have applied for rental assistance but are still waiting to receive rental assistance. Because the demand is greater than the amount of assistance available, a waiting list has been established to serve interested families in a fair and orderly manner. All applicants will be placed on the waiting list in accordance with a preference system, which is set by the Housing Authority.
Your name can only be added to the waiting list when the list is open. Once you are on the waiting list, it is important to notify the Housing Authority when your mailing address changes. If mail that has been sent to you is returned to the Housing Authority by the Post Office, your name will be removed from the waiting list and your application turned inactive.
The Housing Authority is unable to estimate how long you will have to wait for assistance due to the length of the waiting list and the slow turnover in the housing assistance programs.
When your name reaches the top of the waiting list, you will be contacted by mail and must submit the necessary documentation to determine your eligibility for assistance.
After all paperwork is received and you are determined eligible, you will be asked to attend a briefing session. At the briefing session, you will be issued a Housing Choice Voucher, and you will be able to start your search for housing.
