Applying for the Housing Choice Voucher Program

The waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher Program is closed!

Instructions below are only for when the Waiting List open is open. Currently Waiting list is closed!

To apply for the the Housing Choice Voucher Program Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, please contact the Jonesboro Housing Authority by calling 870.336.9612 and make an appointment with the application technician. 

We require the following information on applications:

  1. Name, sex, date of birth and relationship to the head of household of all persons who will be living in the housing.
  2. Address and phone number.
  3. Any family characteristics (disability, veteran status, etc.) which might further qualify you for a voucher.
  4. An estimate of your income for the next twelve (12) months, and the sources of that income.
  5. Contact information for employers, banks and other sources of information to verify your financial situation.

Once the above documentation has been received, you will be placed on the waiting list.  Remember, it is possible  to be on the waiting list of multiple agencies at the same time, so apply everywhere you can to increase your chances of receiving a voucher as soon as possible.

    If you or anyone in your family is a person with disabilities, and you require a specific accommodation in order to participate in the application process for the Housing Choice Voucher program, please contact the housing authority.

    Legal Aid has created an automated process to help people draft a letter requesting a reasonable accommodation or modification under the Fair Housing Act.   It is easy to use; you simply follow a series of prompts, print the letter, and give it to your landlord or housing provider.   For reasonable accommondation requests from the Housing Authority contact your caseworker.
